Lotus is now also a manual: a practical book that weaves together yoga and poetry, designed both for professionals and for groups seeking sensitive expression and greater well-being.
A manual in three movements
The first chapter, Asana, offers a clear overview of postures, from joint warm-ups to standing, seated, kneeling, prone and supine poses, with step-by-step guidance for all levels.
Each sequence emphasizes respect for the body, adaptation, attention to the breath and the gradual emergence of inner presence, preparing participants for a shared poetic experience.
Breathing, playing, meditating
The second chapter explores breathing (pranayama), mindfulness and yoga-inspired games to create a safe, playful and cooperative environment.
Simple breathing exercises, guided relaxation and visualization help soothe the nervous system, strengthen concentration and open a shared imaginative space.
When yoga meets poetry
The third chapter presents the Lotus approach: an innovative method that combines bodily practices and poetic writing to support the mental health and social inclusion of young refugees and migrants in Paris, Athens and Berlin.
It offers ready-to-use sessions in which each workshop combines postures, breath, poetry readings and writing activities around themes such as resilience, voice, transformation, dreams and belonging.
A tool for practitioners
The manual is intended for teachers, social workers, artists, therapists and facilitators who wish to integrate yoga and poetry into their practice, with detailed, adaptable and inclusive session plans.
Inspired by workshops with young refugees, it proposes a methodology that can be transferred to other educational, social or cultural contexts.
Bonus: discovering Lotus on a chair
A bonus section describes a two-hour introductory chair-yoga workshop, ideal for discovering the Lotus approach when mobility is limited or material conditions are constrained.
This first step offers a flexible format to try out the method, meet a group and gently open a space for collective sharing and creation.
